Trail Access Meeting

Tim at Acme Bikes in rapid has this posted on his site.
USFS Trail Access Meeting:
We have come to a decision on the date for a meeting with Rick Hudson of the USFS: Thursday, January 20, 6:00 p.m. at the Mystic USFS office (on Soo San by West Middle School). Rick is spear-heading the travel-usage monster for the Black Hills and will be presenting a PowerPoint on what we (mountain bikers) can do to help our cause. He will also be fielding any questions that we may have. This is a very critical meeting to attend (was that too subtle?) for any mountain biker interested in keeping single-track trail opportunities alive in the Black Hills. Please do everything that you can to attend...and drag a few family members with you too. We will want to show that we are a large user group whose needs the forest service must address. Please mark your calendars with this important date. I hope everyone can attend! Cheers, Phil
Make it to the meeting if you are able to. I know I'll try to be there.

New categories planned for the database.

There is a possibility of the addition of a few more categories to the trail database for the public to submit trails.

Currently the database allows submission in the categories of hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, and horseback riding.

These categories were chosen because the majority of NFS maintained trails are limited to one or a few of these uses.

Recognizing the fact that not all forest use must be carried out on NFS sanctioned trails, BHTrails.com is looking to expand our list of categories to include more outdoor activities. Some of the planned additions are: Backcountry Powder Runs (downhill skiing & snowboarding), 4x4 & Rock crawler trails, ATV trails, Snowmobile trails, and publicly accessable firetowers and lookouts. The addition of these categories is an easy process, it's getting the categories populated that will be hard work.

Help spread the word about us. Download a flyer or Purchase something from our online store.

New Source for News.

BHTrails.com will now exclusively be using this blog for news related posts.

This blog has an RSS feed (rich site subscription) that will allow users of BHTrails.com to get automatic updates either by email or in the news aggregator of their choice. I will create a post later that includes instructions on how you can subscribe to the feed and link to it on the side bar of this blog.

Until then, happy trails.
